Announcing our very own Cindy P. as the December MVP! She has been with us a year. One of our very first members, and has become a great asset to JCCF community. A smile on her face. And always determined to do that WOD, movement, whatever the challenge may be in front of her. When you ask her, her favorite part of her day, she says, “CrossFit”.

And I don’t think any of us could have said this better than she…..

“No matter, age, shape or weight, CrossFit has it for YOU. Anyone can do it and succeed. You may not be anywhere near the accomplishments of the younger, more in shape athletes, but YOU are still an athlete just the same and can continue to strive to be a better, healthier YOU at YOUR strength, endurance level, and capability. Simpler terms, cheer on your other CrossFit family for their successes, but don’t feel inadequate if you can’t succeed at their level……..yet!”

Name: Cindy Piant

Age: 45

Family: 16-year-old son, Dane, light of my life. Mom, Dad & brother, two dogs, two cats.

How long have you been CrossFitting? 1 year, 1 month

What is your greatest accomplishment at the box? Sticking with it. My track record with prior fitness programs hasn’t been very successful. But I would have to say, having a work out partner, Donna Braun, who keeps us accountable is one of the keys. The other key, for me, is hands down, the trainers at JCCF.

Do you have a favorite memory at the box? Once, being told by someone I see as an incredible trainer and person, that I was her inspiration that day.

Favorite weightlifting movement and Why? Split Jerk, I like the name and it is totally different.

Deadlift or Power Clean and Why? Deadlift. It really works my rear end muscles and I need that!

Running or Double Unders and Why? That’s a hard one, because I’m not a fan of either.  I would have to say running because my coordination and double unders just hasn’t met yet. ( I knew you weren’t a fan either, but if you could choose, I was curious.)

What is your 1RM on Back Squat? I’m not sure. Maybe 70. I’m not very competitive so numbers aren’t as important to me.  I do it mostly just to be “Better Than Yesterday” and to be a part of the CrossFit family.

Pullups or Burpees and Why? Pullups definitely. That is the movement that makes me feel like I have come the farthest. I kinda feel on top of the world when I do them.

Favorite Shoes to work out in: No doubt my Chuck Taylor’s are the most fashionable, but for most of the movements I prefer my Nike Free.

If you could give any advice for a person new to CrossFit, what would it be? No matter, age, shape or weight, CrossFit has it for YOU. Anyone can do it and succeed. You may not be anywhere near the accomplishments of the younger, more in shape athletes, but YOU are still an athlete just the same and can continue to strive to be a better, healthier YOU at YOUR strength, endurance level, and capability. Simpler terms, cheer on your other CrossFit family for their successes, but don’t feel inadequate if you can’t succeed at their level……..yet!

Goals in the future with your CrossFit adventure: I really really want to someday be able to do a strict pull up. As Maria would say, BAM!

What is one thing that people who know you, may not “know” about you? My guilty pleasure is napping in my pile of super soft covers. I call it my “nest”.

Favorite past time outside of CrossFit: Movies.

Favorite “benchmark work out” and why? Cindy, because it has my name. Haven’t been privileged enough to do it yet, but looking forward to it!

Favorite Food: Anything chocolate.

Favorite Beverage: Sorry, I know this is like drinking Satan’s Juice, but DIET COKE!!!!

Favorite Quote: Time is treasure, spend it wisely.
