CONGRATULATIONS Sami Lindsay, Jefferson City CrossFit’s February 2015 MVP. You started with us in the “baby” box. I remember the first class you and Tyler did together! And have grown so much. She won one of our fitness challenges, has competed in two CrossFit Competitions now, and never ceases to amaze us with her quiet demeanor, and then overall conquer abilities. She continues to put in the work, and as you can see is always making “Gainz”. Thank you Sami for being part of our Community!

How long have you been CrossFitting?: I started in November 2013 when Tyler pretty much told me I had no other choice except to sign up for on-ramp!
What time do you come to WOD normally?: 5:30 and the weekends
Favorite Lift: Cleans
Favorite Met Con: Double Unders. I freaked out when I was finally able to string them together because I was so excited!
Favorite Gymnastic Movement: I don’t know that I have one right now, but I am bound and determined to conquer strict pull-ups and a nice handstand without the help of a wall! Maybe then one of those will be my favorite!
Tell us some about your journey, greatest accomplishments:
The reason I started Crossfit, like I said, was because Tyler really gave me no choice! But I am super happy that I did. Why I have stuck with it and keep coming back is because to me nothing else compares. When working out at the YMCA I never had the true drive to want to go all the time. With Crossfit the drive is always there even when I am tired and I get super bummed when I have to miss going for some reason. Also, I have gained strength and accomplished things, like weight lifting, that I never thought possilbe. Another thing that keeps me coming back are the PR’s, because once I set a new one I keep wanting to set more! Tyler and I have also gained another family through Crossfit. They are always pushing us to be better so I don’t want to let them or myself down! I would have to say my biggest accomplishments was building the strength and courage to compete in two competitions; the “Dynamic Duo” with Tyler and the “Tag Team Throwdown” with the lovely Ryann Rumbaugh!!
If you could give any advice for a person new to CrossFit, it would be, don’t give up and keep coming back, because the trainers and members at JCCF will help and push you to become a better you! And who
wouldn’t want that!
