” No Pain, No Gain.” Four years later! You are going to run into Buffy at the 5am Rooster Crew and Open gym Sundays doing couple wods with her hubby Waleed! Grateful for you!

“Being independent, confident, and strong are what I want my kids to see in me and learn from me. I am so grateful to JCCF who has helped me along the way! “

My husband, Waleed, and I were “regulars” at the Y. After deciding to make a change to a heathier lifestyle, we went to the Y almost every day, spending most of the time of the treadmill while adding in weight training here and there. In June 2016, my brother, Ryne, asked if we wanted to try out a CrossFit class at JCCF. We agreed to go,

but I was sure that it wasn’t going to be for me.

When we walked into JCCF that night, I was immediately intimidated. I saw all of these people doing things that I was sure I could not do or had been unable to do even when I was young. After trying the class though, we were immediately hooked.

This was almost 4 years ago. CrossFit has become a major part of my family’s lives since that first class. It is something that I absolutely love to do. Every time I step in the gym, my goal is do my very best and work as hard as I can. I love the competition within myself and pushing myself to my limits. CrossFit has shown me that I can do anything–even things that I could not do as a kid-like rope climbs and hand stands. Crossfit has shown me firsthand that hard work pays off, as I have seen my lifts and Wod weights increase over time. For me, these feats are huge, and I continue to push myself for more.

Doing CrossFit makes me feel independent, motivated, confident, and strong–adjectives I would not normally use to describe myself. Being independent, confident, and strong are what I want my kids to see in me and learn from me. I am so grateful to JCCF who has helped me along the way!

If you could give any advice for a person new to CrossFit, what would it be?:

My advice for a person new to Crossfit would be to work hard, push yourself, and only compete with yourself.
