Announcing our October MVP!  Patty Benefield has been CrossFitting with us for 9 months! We absolutely love and adore Patty. Or should I call her “Party”. Anyone that meets her would feel the same exact way. Not long after she started she showed up at an Open Gym and was working on her Clean and Jerk. I will never forget that day.

If she could sell servings of her determination, she would not only be rich, she would have enough to give out to the entire Jefferson City population and still have more to go around. We are blessed to have you as part of our community, Patty! Thank you!

How long have you been CrossFitting?:  9 months

What is your greatest accomplishment at the box?:  Taking almost a minute off of my WOD time for the fitness challenge!

Do you have a favorite memory at the box?: I was having a particularly tough time with a WOD.  All of a sudden I hear Coach Natalie and Jill Sandifer Bruss cheering me on.  Then, Coach Natalie finished the WOD with me.  It took everything I had not to cry that day!

Favorite weightlifting movement and Why?:  Push Press/Kettle Bell – Getting weight over my head…I love it!

What is your favorite bodyweight movement and why?  T2B….This is recently my favorite.  I can finally do them hanging from the bar!

What is your greatest strength at the box?  I’ve increased my workouts to four times a week.

Snatch or Clean and Why?:  Snatch  I have always found it a difficult move.  Any improvements in my form and weight make me smile!!

Double Unders or Burpees and Why?: Burpees   I’m still working on getting my first Double Under.  I can do Burpees, and I had never done them before I joined JCCF!  So, that in itself is an achievement for me.

Running or Rowing and Why?  Running   I’ve been working pretty hard to get my mile time down.

What is a one month goal and a one year goal for you in your CrossFit adventure?  One month goal:  Getting my mile run time to single digits    One year goal:  A few Double Unders and Pull Ups under my belt.

Favorite Shoes to work out in:  I like my Nike Fusions for the moment. If you could give any advice for a person new to CrossFit, what would it be?:  Positive self talk is so important!  Be proud of yourself for any accomplishments.  You can do it!!!

What is one thing that people who know you, may not “know” about you?  I love to bowl!

Favorite past time outside of CrossFit: Hanging out with girlfriends….we always have a blast…Also, I love crafting!

Favorite Food:  Snow Crab Legs and Baby Back Ribs

Favorite Beverage:  Sweet Tea and Tropical Drinks (Yum!)

Favorite Quote:   For we walk by faith,  not by sight.   2 Corinthians 5:7

Patty:  About a year and a half ago, I heard about JCCF from my friends Mindy, Nikki and Tina.  I wasn’t too sure, because I was not a part of any exercise program, ever, not even as a kid.  So, it started as a new year’s resolution/I’ll try it and see.  My first night of On Ramp showed me what a wonderful place this is for all of us.  When I was not feeling so great, Coach Rachel was right at my side reminding me to breathe.  She sat with me the rest of the time!    I can’t say enough about Coach Natalie!!  She is there at Noon WOD most of the time when I am there.  When I don’t think I can get the last few reps out, she is right there cheering me on.  I am so happy I joined JCCF, and can’t wait to see what more I will accomplish in a year!
